Feature Song | Amusement Parks on Fire | Our Goal To Realise

– By Camille Banzon, Music Editor –

The spellbinding shoegaze sound of Amusement Parks on Fire is back in our radar, and we couldn’t be more excited to present their new single called “Our Goal To Realise.”

The 6-piece band from Nottingham has been nothing but impressive when it comes to their releases, and the new single is no different. The song begins with Amusement Parks on Fire’s familiar lulling arrangement heard in Road Eyes: the contrast of soft and heavy sounds bounded together by fuzzy distortion and mirror-smashing cymbals, until Michael Ferrick’s familiar voice floats around a tranquilising melody that will punch holes straight through your emotional side.

(Read our interview with Amusement Parks on Fire vocalist, Michael Feerick, here.)

This song will either take the sting out of whatever bad mood you’re in, or elevate you to a higher state of reality, thanks to the guitar and bass that serves as its dramatic heartbeat that forces a story bigger than your present state. It’s rousing, it’s electrifying, and it’s lush. It’s everything that you want a new Amusement Parks on Fire song to be.

The 7″ single will officially be out on November 17 via Saint Marie Records, a label known for maintaining and cultivating the shoegaze sound: from oldschool-inspired to progressive shoegaze. The track has a B-side called “Black Beacon Sound,” which is a slower, more sedated (but still freaking good) song. These will all be a part of a 12″ release on the horizon titled “An Archea,” with a release set on 2018. The band is also set to tour the UK on November, kicking off alongside the release of “Our Goal To Realise.”

“Our Goal To Realise,” the band’s first release since 2009, taught us many things. Most importantly, it taught us that patience is indeed a virtue, especially in the music realm, because a comeback like this is something worth waiting for.
