Feature Song | VEYNS | hiRaeTH

– by The Violet Wave staff –

We’re almost always intrigued when we find music coming from Brighton, knowing that it’s one of the most important cities in the world when it comes to producing all kinds of good sound. From punk to electro, this city has cultivated some of the most iconic music acts from the UK. Somewhere in between is synth-laden indie, and VEYNS could be Brighton’s best act from this hip genre these days.

Simple and straightforward seems to be VEYNS’ style, and it shines in their track, “hiRaeTH.” The layered, textured vocals serve as the star of the track, and the keys and drum pads make it a mild number for an easy listening session.

According to Urban Dictionary, “hiraeth” means is an “expression of the bond one feels with one’s home country when one is away from it,” so basically it’s a song about being homesick, and a pretty damn good one.
