Feature Song | The Ladybugs | I Don’t Want to Set The World on Fire

– By The Violet Wave Staff –

Listen to this song and you’ll feel like you’re in the middle of a slow dance floor in the 30’s, so much that you can imagine your grandparents canoodling as teenagers in the corner.

Donning intricate harmonies and an old school feel, The Ladybugs effortlessly braid old timey blues and swing charm with modern flair. The jazz band from New York all sing while playing ukulele, guitar, trombone, bass, and drums. They initially caught our attention when we got a release for their Christmas single, “Blue Christmas.” A little bit of curiosity led us to their other songs, and this one got us good and we immediately associate it with the original by The Ink Spots, which was included in Fallout 3’s soundtrack (see video below).

The effect is unavoidable: it made us drift off to the past, time traveling instantly and jumping away from the screens of our computer to a romantic dance and swing. The title alone is fun, and listening to it was surely an experience.
