Vancouver-based band, Ponytails, is the product of best friends Harvey Merrit (vocals, bass) and Travis Goeres (lead guitar) mutual love for pizza and Sylvester Stallone movies. Joined by Liam Less (bass, rhythm guitar, vocals) and Simon Furminger (drums, vocals) the band formed in March 2016 and began recording in September of the same year. After changing drummers and releasing some music, Ponytails plans to continue releasing singles and music videos until the debut of their full-length LP in the fall of 2019.
According to the band, “Just Yours” is about the ways in which we find each other- “It’s about accepting your love for someone, and gratitude for experiencing such a feeling. It’s about trusting the heart, and leaning into the moment without expectation for the future. We can find joy in the mystery – even when it’s confusing or difficult.”
Influenced by the emotion and passion from 60’s pop music (as well as some of the goofiness), Ponytails brings energy and excitement and makes us want to join the party in their “Just Yours” music video.
“It really doesn’t matter who or what you love – just that you’re experiencing it. When we experience love, we are at home. It’s important to remember that this feeling doesn’t only apply to romance. It can be for a friend, a pet, or that moment when you bite into your favourite slice of pizza. Love is here and we are it.”
