As a music fan, this is probably the best way to travel the world, and we’re giving you options on where to spend your hard-earned money.

Sure, Coachella, Burning Man, or something like Tomorrowland sound like the obvious choices, but there’s an entire array of more relaxed and better music festivals, location and line-up wise.

For its 2017 leg, Primavera Sound offered its attendees live tastes of Broken Social Scene, Bon Iver, The XX, Arcade Fire, Glass Animals, Aphex Twin, King Krule, Local Natives, Frank Ocean, and many more stellar acts. Imagine a natural amphitheater where the seats are made of lush grass. That’s the vibe of Malasimbo Music & Arts Festival, a relatively young festival set in the tropical paradise of Puerto Galera (3 to 4 hours from Metro Manila by bus and boat).


Aside from top-notch international acts, the festival celebrates the best local acts serving reggae, electro, soul, r&b, and world music. It also invites local artists from around the Philippines to showcase their stuff, and the result could be magnificent and out-of-this-world. Going to Malasimbo could also mean a chance to explore the pristine beaches of Puerto Galera and its nearby islands, as well as the region’s culture though on-site exhibitions and market areas. The festival even has a designated party boat called “Malasimboat,” where top DJ’s play tunes for those aboard the sunset cruise. Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival

When: June 7 to 10, 2018

Where: Manchester, Tennessee

If you’re a coffee lover (since it is situated in Coffee County) and an absolute nut for good live music, head to Tennessee’s prime festival.

2017’s acts included Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Bonobo, Chance the Rapper, Lorde, Travis Scott, Milky Chance, Warpaint, Flume, Future Islands, The Weeknd, and more. Aside from 3 days of non-stop music, festival goers can also take a funny break and visit the Comedy Theatre and see world-class comedians such as Hannibal Burress and 2 Dope Queens, grace the stage.


Aside from heading to Bonnaroo, you can enjoy the county’s rich wine culture, visit Old Stone Fort State Archeological Park, catch up on some arts and crafts with many creative hubs, or go antique shopping at Shelton Lane Antiques.

EXIT Festival

When: July 12 to 15, 2018

Where: Novi Sad, Serbia

If you’ve always wanted an adventure out of the usual music fest-radar, visit Novi Sad, Serbia to attend the EXIT Festival. Located in Northern Serbia, Novi Sad is a picturesque city on the banks of the Danube River. It has everything that you would want in a developed foreign city without the stress and bustle of a big smoke.

To make it even better, it is the setting of the explosive EXIT Festival, that featured The Killers, Jake Bugg, and Liam Gallagher in 2017.


The location is also what makes the festival amazing. Set in historic Petrovaradin Fortress, nicknamed the Gibraltar of the Danube, the festival provides a picturesque first-world festival taste to whoever makes it out there.

Tagged as one of the UK’s most diverse and creative music festivals, Bestival has multiple stages that offer vibe-specific productions. There are specific areas for beatheads, for rock fans, for electro nuts, and even for blues and jazz enthusiasts. Just about any corner in all realms of interest and preference are covered, not to mention the amazing line-up that was presented in 2017.
