We here at The Violet Wave are firm believers of the universal magic that psychedelic rock can bring. And SOL GEMS, a band from Johannesburg, South Africa, is one of our current favorites. Their song, “Echo Eyes,” is a strong reason why.
“Echo Eyes” sounds like it drew a lot of inspiration from today’s biggest psychedelic acts like POND and Tame Impala, but that is not a bad thing. There’s a lot more going on in this song, with icy guitar riffs, a slippery tune, an exciting upbeat tempo, and unexpected surprises here and there. The title of the track itself is a trip: imagine your vision having echoes. Awesome, isn’t it?
The song can almost give anyone psychosomatic synesthesia, because it could fill up the room with colors, and will absolutely transport listeners from their boring worldly situations into the inside of a trippy GIF like this one.
