Wake up. Otis Junior & Dr. Dundiff’s “The 1” sounds like the soulful ear epiphany you’ve been waiting for all night long.
The Kentucky-based soul singer and beat maker are set on bringing the fuzzy warmth of 90’s neo-soul back with this track called “The 1.” In line with the recurring music trend, Junior & Dundiff did a stellar arrangement in trying to sound nostalgic and fresh at the same time.
The pair’s promotional photos on their social media pages transcend the vibe and lyrics of this bumpy, groovy tune. “The 1” describes the first few minutes upon waking up next to that someone, and it dives right into declaring total admiration through tender notes.
“It feels so good waking up to you/ What’d you do with all my blues, girl?/ You add this rosy-colored tint to all my views, girl,” sings Omar-reminiscent Junior in this pleasant morning after-themed love song, stitched beautifully across an upbeat, mellow funk melody. Though its sensually-charged keys, grooves and hooks, the song gently presents a floating feeling of having someone giving you a series of beautiful moments by day and unforgettable warm evenings at night. If tones and pitches had hues upon contact to the ears, we’re pretty sure that this song emits sexy, rosy-colored tones as well.
Listen to this suave number and set a goal for playing it first thing in the morning:
