Isle of Dogs, by Wes Anderson

isle-of-dogsYou might say we’re a Wes Anderson-admiring bunch around The Violet Wave, with his worlds that are somehow both innocent and creepy, light and dark. Of course, joining up with some of the top talent in the industry never hurts.

Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox was his first surprising foray into animation, and opening in 2018 is his second, presumably tongue-in-cheek named for the area in London, England, but actually about a doggy dystopia where canines have been sent to fend for themselves after an outbreak.

As it features such Anderson and industry faves as Scarlett Johansson, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum, Frances McDormand, Harvey Keitel, Tilda Swinton and Yoko Ono, and as it’s the first Anderson feature-length film since his Academy Award-winning Grand Budapest Hotel, and given its subject matter in this animal-crazy world, the film is bound to be a hit, despite the outcry of the whitewashing of its characters. (The story takes place off the coast of Japan.)

Have a look at the trailer. The movie will be released in March, 2018.
