Artist Spotlight: Damien Olsen

– by Wendy Morley –

damienKnown in the New York scene as a musician, Damien Olsen is an American multidisciplinary artist born in 1961 to an immigrant Russian family and educated in Brazil. Damien began selling drawings and paintings at a very young age, later moving on to sculpture and photography. While studying psychology in the 1970s he worked as a photography assistant and advertising designer before pursuing a career in contemporary dance, which lasted 12 years.

Damien is a phenomenal artist on so many levels and in so many genres and media that I can’t wait to interview him at length in the coming weeks. See more of his work at www.damienolsenarts.com

Damien always uses a Canon 60D with a18/200mm Canon lens to photograph, and here I’ve featured mostly his photographs. Exceptions are noted.
